I
shot this portrait shortly after the events of
September 11. The sun was beginning to set and
the light was warm, but the feeling of fall was
in the air. The subject wore his uniform and the
Green Beret with personal pride, representing
a long career of service. His gaze is strong,
but reflective, as he looks with anticipation
and respect toward what might lie ahead. His stance
is powerful and determined. Shortly after the
photo was taken, Lt. Col. White was called up
for a one-year tour of duty in the war against
terrorism. |
